A day on the greens in the heart of the Ottawa Valley is helping to spread the love around for local community organizations.
Golfers at the Cobden Civitan Club’s 31st annual tournament enjoyed warm and sunny conditions at the Oaks of Cobden, raising a total of $20,000 that has been split evenly into $4,000 donations to Hospice Renfrew, Victim Services of Renfrew County, ConnectWell Community Health, Renfrew Victoria Hospital, and Pembroke Regional Hospital.
Representatives from each group have already shared some of their plans for the donations, including the funding of a new CT scanner for PRH and an ultrasound machine for RVH.
Hospice Renfrew’s share will support their Grief and Bereavement Program, which provides one-on-one counselling, support groups, and community programming for people navigating the loss of a loved one.
ConnectWell’s funds will be split between their Renfrew County Good Food Box program, which provides residents in need access to fresh produce at bulk, wholesale pricing, and their education and fitness programs in Cobden.
Lastly, Victims Services says their portion of the proceeds will help those affected by crime or tragic circumstances who are not eligible for other funding or support.
