Author Carley Fortune is coming home to Barry’s Bay, the town that serves as the setting for two of her best selling novels, “Every Summer After” and “One Golden Summer”.
The Madawaska Valley Public Library is planning a huge celebration for the author’s return. One Golden Gala is being held on August 15th at the Paul J. Yakabuski Community Centre.
Board member Colleen Golka says there is a lot of excitement about this now sold-out event.
Golka says they’re really looking forward to this.
CEO and Head Librarian Natalie Barrington says the gala was all Fortune’s idea.
The New York Times bestselling author spent part of her childhood in Barry’s Bay, and also lived in Australia and Tofino, BC.
The 42-year-old Fortune began her career as a journalist, working for publications like The Globe and Mail and Chatelaine, before transitioning into fiction.
Amazon Prime Video adapted her hugely popular bestseller “Every Summer After” into a TV show. Now titled Every Year After, the series premiered last month.
Netflix is currently shooting another series based on Fortune’s book “This Summer Will Be Different”.
