An important court date is coming up this week in a case that shocked the Ottawa Valley last summer.
The teen boy charged in connection with a violent attack on an 8 year old girl in Quadeville could see his case resolved without going to trial, if the Crown agrees with a proposal submitted by the defence.
The matter is due back in the Ontario Superior Court of Justice in Pembroke on Thursday morning.
According to a published report, the potential resolution was discussed during a July 9th court appearance but a decision was expected to take two weeks.
The accused, who was 17 at the time of his arrest, is charged with attempted murder and sexual assault with a weapon. The charges have not been proven in court.
The victim was found with severe injuries after she was reported missing on June 23rd, 2025.
The case had been scheduled for trial next year.
