Support is rallying for some of the most vulnerable members in our community as programs and services at Community Living remain closed.
Renfrew County Voices founder Charlene Riopelle is inviting the public to come to Low Square in Renfrew from 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm on Thursday, July 23rd, to meet with the families affected by the ongoing developmental services worker strike and show their support for those whose lives have been turned upside down because of it.
Kids can meet with costumed storybook characters and take part in face painting as visitors hear directly from those dealing with the impact of the strike over light refreshments and snacks.
Riopelle, who is the parent to an adult with special needs, says that the strike has left many of the Community Living clients isolated and without activities, friends, and structured lives that they relied on for years.
Those who wish to support the day by donating snacks and drinks can leave them at Scott and Son’s Hardware, directly across from Low Square, ahead of the event.
