Local social workers have extended an olive branch as a labour dispute continues at Community Living Renfrew County South.
With provincial delegates for OPSEU expected to meet with employers in Toronto on Monday, July 13, OPSEU Local 472 has also invited the CLRCS bargaining team to return to the table for mediated negotiations.
The invitation, which myFM news obtained from the local union branch, argues that involving all key decision makers will improve the chances of a fair and sustainable resolution to the strike, which is entering its seventh week.
OPSEU has been seeking a 6.5% retroactive wage increase as a remedy to a wage freeze under Ontario Bill 124, which was later deemed unconstitutional. Local union members have also raised concerns over scheduling and perceived attacks on seniority.
myFM news reached out to both parties to see if a meeting has been arranged, but have yet to hear back from either at the time of publication.
