Renfrew County will not see much relief from hot and humid conditions continuing in the region.
Environment Canada says their heat warning for the Ottawa Valley will continue into Friday. While the hottest conditions have passed, temperatures are expected to still reach above 30 degrees Celsius with humidex values approaching 40.
The weather agency reminds the public to take action to protect themselves and others from the extreme heat and watch for symptoms of heat exhaustion like headache, nausea, dizziness, thirst, dark urine, and intense fatigue. If you experience symptoms, stop your activity and drink water.
Drink water often and before you feel thirsty to replace fluids. Close blinds or shades and only open windows if outside is cooler than inside, or seek a cool public space like a community centre or public library.
Limit your direct exposure to the sun and heat. Wear lightweight, light-coloured, loose-fitting clothing and a wide-brimmed hat.
Never leave people, especially children, or pets inside a parked vehicle. Check your vehicle before locking it to make sure no one is left behind.
