It’s a proud moment for the town of Renfrew as the community celebrates this year’s top volunteers.
The town is congratulating the recipients of their 2026 Volunteers of the Year awards, whose continued dedication and commitment to the community were apparent in the many heartwarming stories they received during the nomination process, according to Communications & Engagement Coordinator, Hannah MacMillan.
Citizen of the Year Merv Warren, Community Champion of the Year Charlene Riopelle, Senior Volunteer of the Year Bruce Rozycki, and Non-Profit of the Year Renfrew Rotary all received high praise for their efforts.
This year’s nomination process highlighted a number of worthy nominees who contribute to making Renfrew a truly special place to live, and people will have the chance to honour the winners as the town celebrates Canada Day inside Ma-te-Way Park.
MacMillan sends a sincere thank you to everyone who took part in the nomination process, and encourages anyone who wants to be part of the considerations for next year to stay alert.
Renfrew’s Volunteer of the Year Awards are decided on annualy by an anonymous selection team made up of residents, a member of town staff, and a town councillor.
