The Algonquins of Pikwakanagan First Nation is recognizing Fire Chief Chris Sarazin after he received a national honour for his long-standing service to community safety.
Sarazin was awarded the 30-Year Indigenous Fire Service Award Medal by the National Indigenous Fire Safety Council, recognizing three decades of work in fire protection and emergency response.
Officials say Sarazin has played a key role in strengthening emergency preparedness, promoting fire prevention and enhancing local response capabilities throughout his career.
Public Works Manager Dustin Logan says Sarazin’s leadership and commitment to public safety have left a lasting impact on the community. The National Indigenous Fire Safety Council supports improved fire safety outcomes in Indigenous communities through education, training and advocacy initiatives.
