Remember the good old days, and how you felt when you didn’t have a dime to use a bathroom stall?
Town of Arnprior Council have decided to heck with pinching pennies, they’re going to spend an extra 170k for year-round washrooms at Robert Simpson Park.
Recreation Director Graeme Ivory began what otherwise would have been a rebroadcast of his Council presentation of two weeks before, by listing the myriad of event opportunities the Town could be adding to its outdoor agenda if it had a four-season washroom facility at Robert Simpson Park.
At the May 25th meeting elected representatives had put off making a decision that looked doomed to end in a tie vote until the June 8th Municipal meeting- but the same looked likely last Monday- until Councillor Chris Couper changed his mind.
A Royal Flush Porta-potty is, after all, still a porta-potty.
Couper’s change of heart was in part predicated by Ontario Tourism Minister Stan Cho’s statement that Queen’s Park is a great fan of seasonal equity when it comes Grant time.
The representative was in the process of espousing demographic equity when Mayor McGee interrupted him to call the question.
The recorded vote in favour of the four seasons washroom option for Robert Simpson Park carried 4-2, with Councillor Strike and Mayor McGee opposed.
Under Municipal rules, a tie vote is considered a defeated vote.
