If you were wondering when OPSEU Local 472 pickets would coalesce around an Arnprior site, today’s the day!
Members of the local, augmented by “flying pickets” from OPSEU membership elsewhere are blocking the entrance to the Madawaska Golf Course on Keatley Drive which is hosting the Valley Has Heart Charity Golf Tournament.
Shannon Waddell is the Local 4-72 President.
She says the picketers have largely been well-received.
Members of the Ottawa Police Service are on hand to observe that access and egress is conducted smoothly.
Waddell believes OPSEU membership is winning the battle of public opinion.
Membership has been without a contract since 2024, and last received a pay increase under Bill 124 of 1 percent.
The Ford Government legislation imposing the cap was later ruled unconstitutional.
