You’ll want to think twice about swimming in White Lake, despite the lack of signage warning of the danger.
The White Lake Property Owners Association has taken to social media sites, What’s Up Arnprior and What’s Up McNab-Braeside to advise of blue-green algae in the Lake.
The algae has been microscopically identified as Anabaena blue-green algae. This alga can produce toxins harmful to fish, pets and humans.
As of yet there has been no signage regarding the infestation posted by Southeast Health, the augmented medical authority with responsibility to do so.
Southeast Health confirms testing is the responsibility of the Smiths Falls office, which remains consistent with the situation under the former Leeds-Grenville-Lanark Health Unit.
