Environment Canada has issued a special weather statement for parts of eastern Ontario as strong gusts continue to impact the region Friday afternoon.
Forecasters say wind gusts of up to 80 kilometres per hour are possible before conditions begin easing later this evening.
The warning remains in effect for the Renfrew, Arnprior and Calabogie areas.
Meanwhile, the Ontario Provincial Police is advising motorists to use caution across the Upper Ottawa Valley because of hazardous driving conditions linked to the weather.
Police say officers have received multiple reports of downed trees blocking roadways, along with brush fires reducing visibility along Highway 17 near Bissett Creek.
Drivers are being urged to check road conditions before travelling, reduce speed and remain alert while emergency crews work to clear hazards from affected areas.
Environment Canada says the strong winds are being caused by a passing cold front moving through the region.
