The next logical step in providing French language education in Arnprior has been taken by the Provincial Government.
Locally, Ontario is investing $13.6 million for a new secondary school by converting the existing École élémentaire catholique des Deux-Rivières into a JK-12 school.
The move was announced today by Renfrew-Nipissing-Pembroke MPP Billy Denault, who led the official presentation.
Calling the measure “great news”, the member said, “Through this investment, we’re creating opportunities for students to thrive well into the future.”
The measure comes under Ontario’s Capital Priorities program, and this year’s funding supports a combination of new school builds, expansions and retrofits across the province- providing more than $22 billion over 10 years to support new school construction, renewal and improvements.
Local CECCE trustee Daniel Levasseur commented, “This announcement was highly anticipated in the region. For many families, it means that their children will be able to pursue their secondary education in French in Arnprior, in a modern, accessible and stimulating learning environment that supports their success, well-being and sense of belonging.”
