Gary Patrois got the entertainment rolling Saturday afternoon at Betty’s Chips – at River Rd. & Usborne St., overlooking the Ottawa in Braeside.
The day marked the 50th Anniversary of Betty’s Chips- a business Dan Leblanc’s mother acquired on the Victoria Day Weekend of 1976.
Dan gave us the history less as part of the Oldies “Hidden Gems” series in October of 2022, and Saturday offered the community a refresher course incentivized by a free large fries with every twenty-dollar purchase.
Just as Guilbeault’s was notorious for its burgers, Leblanc raves about Betty’s Beef- it’s made from the animal’s entire carcass, not just the section where “ground beef” is drawn in chalk marks.
The expertise at Betty’s Chips is female to this day.
Sandra enjoys her role with Betty’s Chips and can’t wait for the stand to open each year.
She notes the original location from 50 years ago is still on the property.
Sandra says the Tour de Poutine is only one example of community involvement for Betty’s Chips.
She looks forward for a bright and expanding future at River Rd. & Usborne St., overlooking the Ottawa in Braeside.
