The Ontario of Tomorrow includes investing in Renfrew-Nipissing-Pembroke today.
Acting Minister of Infrastructure Todd McCarthy is touting $82 million in infrastructure spending in the region over the last two years, including major water, road, and bridge projects that are enabling new and existing housing and ensuring the health and safety of residents.
The local investment, which comes from several funding streams, is part of a 10-year, $236 billion capital infrastructure plan that began in 2024. McCarthy says it’s part of the support for Ontario’s rural and northern communities the provincial government prioritizes at Queen’s Park and travelling across Ontario.
He also credits MPP Billy Denault for continued efforts to bring funding into the riding, following in the footsteps of his predecessor, John Yakabuski, in being a strong advocate for the Ottawa Valley.
McCarthy says upcoming discussions at the Association of Municipalities of Ontario’s annual conference in Ottawa will be crucial in ensuring the remainder of the province’s infrastructure plan will go to the communities that need it most.
