Despite copious debate over three Arnprior Town Council sessions on the pay scale for the new Deputy Mayor position which will come into effect following the October 26th Municipal Election, so far there are no takers for the number two position at the table.
As is the practice in Arnprior, the outgoing Council sets the pay scale for the successor body which will guide the Town forward for the four-year period commencing November 15th of 2026 and ending November 14th of 2030.
Nominations opened May 1st, and formally close Friday August 21st at 2PM.
The only declared candidate for any of the seven seats at the Arnprior Council Table is Bill Griese, who has filed his papers for the office of Mayor.
Griese is the president of Arnprior Glass-John’s Glass on McLaughlan Street, and chaired the community’s Santa Claus Parade prior to the Arnprior Optimist Club assuming the role in 2025.
Bill Griese has in the past been on the Coaching staff of the Arnprior Packers, retiring in 2021.
He recently served as Campaign Manager for current MPP Billy Denault.
