A flood warning remains in effect along parts of the Ottawa River in eastern Ontario, with officials cautioning that high water levels could persist into next week.
The Ontario Ministry of Natural Resources says the warning applies to areas from Pembroke to Arnprior through at least May 13.
The ministry says recent rainfall and warmer temperatures have accelerated snowmelt and the breakup of lake ice, contributing to rising water levels. Additional precipitation in the forecast is expected to sustain high flows as seasonal runoff moves through the system.
Officials say water levels have begun to stabilize or decline in some regions, but flooding remains possible in low-lying and flood-prone areas along the river.
Residents who have experienced flooding in the past are being urged to take precautions, including securing property near waterways and monitoring conditions closely.
The ministry says it continues to track weather patterns and watershed conditions and will provide updates as needed.
