The Ministry of Natural Resources has extended their flood warning for the Ottawa Valley.
In their latest advisory, the ministry’s Pembroke District, which looks after all of Renfrew County and Algonquin Park, has extended the warning to Wednesday, April 29th, due to recent rainfall and melting snowpack and lake ice flowing from the northern part of the basin.
That, along with continued warm temperatures, will result in elevated water and flow conditions between Pembroke and Arnprior while the freshet runoff moves through the system.
Some communities have already reported high water levels and minor flooding along their shoreline, and the ministry confirms that residents currently experiencing those conditions can expect them to continue.
Affected residents should take necessary action to protect and secure any vulnerable property in proximity to rivers and lakes and regularly check for further updates from the ministry and local officials.
