Officials in McNab Braeside are keeping a close eye on the Ottawa River, as they were expecting to reach peak level by Wednesday. There is flooding in Rhoddy’s Bay, centered around Archibald Street, as well as Aikenhead & Leckie Lane off of Storie Road in Braeside. The Township has set up two sandbagging stations – one at the Public Works Garage on River Road in Braeside and the other on Caruso Circle in Rhoddy’s Bay. The township’s Emergency Management Coordinator Mandy Cannon says staff are monitoring conditions, roads and supplies and getting in touch with residents who may need help. She says they’re hopeful that once they reach peak level, conditions will stabilize. According to the Ottawa River Regulation Planning Board, water levels rose 4 centimetres Tuesday at Chats Lake at Arnprior, while they dropped slightly in areas downstream of Pembroke. However, water levels could come up again in the coming weeks as rising temperatures continue to melt snowpack in northern areas.
