The Central Canada Hockey League says the ownership of the Pembroke Lumber Kings will not be reinstated following the conclusion of an appeal process involving former owner Alex Armstrong.
In a statement, the league said Armstrong’s membership in the league was terminated in September 2025, with the decision subject to appeal through Hockey Eastern Ontario and Hockey Canada. The league said those appeal rights have now been exhausted.
The league said “As a result, Mr. Armstrong is no longer a member of the CCHL,”
The CCHL said it will soon begin the process of seeking a buyer for a new league membership operating out of Pembroke, Ont., effectively opening the door to a new ownership group for the local franchise.
“Families can be assured that the cards / playing rights of all players held by the Pembroke Lumber Kings are now vested with the CCHL,” the statement said. “We appreciate the patience you have shown this season and as this process moves forward.”
Armstrong’s membership was terminated following complaints of player bullying and financial mismanagement.
The Central Canada Hockey League did not provide a timeline for when a new ownership group might be announced.
