When it comes to cleaning out your sheds this spring, proper disposal makes a huge difference.
The Renfrew landfill, located at 376 Bruce Street, will reopen their Household Hazardous Waste Depot on Saturday, May 2nd, accepting items that can’t be thrown into the regular trash throughout the summer months.
Town staff will provide the free service for residents of Renfrew, as well as the neighbouring communities of Arnprior, McNab/Braeside, Horton, Admaston/Bromley, Greater Madawaska, Whitewater Region, and Addington Highlands.
Items that can be dropped off at the depot between 8:30 am and 4:00 pm on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays, as well as from 8:30 am to 2:00 pm on Fridays and Saturdays, include:
- Paints: All types of paint, stains, varnish, spray paint, etc.
- Solvents: Turpentine, Disinfectants, Household Cleaners, Bleach, Oven and Drain Cleaners, Furniture Stripper, Ammonia, etc.
- Herbicides, pesticides, insecticides, weed killer, etc.
- Pool cleaners
- Propane Tanks
- Batteries: Small Standard, Button, Small Tool, Car, and Boat Batteries.
- Automotive Fluids: Used Oil, Brake Fluid, Gasoline, Anti-Freeze, etc.
- Oil filters
- Oil containers (empty or containing oil)
- Light Bulbs and Tubes (all types except PCB ballasts)
- Fire Extinguishers
- Aerosols
- Non-refillable pressurized containers: Acetylene, Refrigerant, Propane, Helium & CO₂ cylinders.
- Pharmaceuticals/Medication (No needles)
- Mercury Bulb Thermostats and Switches
