With spring weather ready to stick around in the Ottawa Valley, municipalities are looking into the damage done to local roads.
The Town of Renfrew is among those looking into the results of winter wear and tear, as they say their public works team is actively identifying potholes, flooding, and other deterioration that needs repair.
Potholes can develop rapidly and in large numbers as freeze-thaw cycles reach and spring rains reach their peak, and crews will need to wait to fix some of the existing holes as they remain filled with water. Potholes will be filled with cold mix throughout the spring until hot mix asphalt plants open in the early summer.
The town will also continue removing snow banks in key areas to reduce the risk of flooding, and street sweeping will begin in April, weather permitting.
Residents whose lawns or yards were damaged by plows can contact Renfrew’s public works department to add it to their spring lawn repair list.
