This year the Downtown Renfrew Business Improvement Area (DRBIA) introduced its newest board member.
Say hello to Kinsey Maxwell, owner of In A Bind which also contains the Valley Refillery.
Maxwell has been a DRBIA member since she’s opened up that first chapter between Pick-It-Fence and the Royal Bank.
After being an established and involved member for over three years, it was only a matter of time until one of the current board members recommended Maxwell to consider joining.
Without much hesitation Kinsey Maxwell became the newest board member of the DRBIA.
Renfrew is Maxwell’s hometown so she wanted to take the opportunity to help those Valley-roots flourish.
The Maxwell surname may ring a bell; Kinsey’s parents were the previous owners of Renfrew’s Home Hardware before selling it off in 2023.
Despite the hereditary business experience Maxwell is quite eager to learn some new tricks of the trade.
In recent years the DRBIA has operated as a direct branch of the Town of Renfrew, with two council representatives currently sitting on the DRBIA’s board as well.
Current chair and longtime DRBIA member, Lisa Vincent, said aligning policies and meeting framework with the town’s procedures creates a secure structure the DRBIA can base its actions on.
Board member Maxwell said the insight into this format will also be a valuable learning lesson.
Although Maxwell hails from Renfrew, she did move away to pursue an education, but upon her return she realized there was so much to love about Renfrew she never realized when growing up here.
In her time with the board Maxwell wants to elevate the notoriety of Renfrew and make it a known shopping and tourism destination amongst the other well-known towns in the Valley.
