The Algonquins of Pikwakanagan have given a vote of confidence to Chief Greg Sarazin. Sarazin was re-elected Chief in elections for council held on Saturday. The Chief says he’s happy to have the chance to continue work on important issues like the Opioid crisis.
Sarazin will be joined on council by two returning members and four newly elected councillors, three of whom have been active in Pikwakanagan’s administration.
Sarazin says there is a lot to look forward to in his second term such as the construction on the community’s new water plant, new community health facility and the new Family and Children’s Services agency. The new council will be sworn in on Wednesday.
The council members elected to serve 2026-2029 are: Dale Benoit, Kevin Lamarr Jr., Taylor Ozawanimke, Merv Sarazin, Ryan Carle, and Angelina Commanda.
