At around 7:45 a.m. this morning (March 26) Township of Whitewater staff were notified of a water main break on Meadow Street in Cobden.
The break affected local water pressure and prompted the Township and the Ontario Clean Water Agency to close Meadow from John Street to Crawford Street to begin repairs.
Deanna Nicholson, the Township of Whitewater’s environmental services superintendent, said the break was repaired around noon and the street has since fully reopened.
Nicholson said fluctuating temperatures can damage water pipes, especially amongst older infrastructure.
However this year, the Township will be focusing on replacing nearby aging water infrastructure.
Nicholson said the Township appreciates the patience and cooperation from Cobden residents during the service interruption.
