Renfrew Victoria Hospital’s latest funding announcement includes a major boost for the central hub for kidney care in Renfrew County, and that’s only the beginning.
Executives and officials with RVH and its charitable foundation gathered inside the hospital’s dialysis unit on Monday, March 23rd, to celebrate $525,139 worth of new equipment purchased through RVH Foundation initiatives like the ongoing Catch the Ace lottery.
That includes 15 new medical recliners that CEO Suzanne Madore says will improve comfort and care close to home for dialysis patients hailing from across the Ottawa Valley.
Other major purchases include new monitoring and examination equipment for the hospital’s emergency, operating, and intensive care units, as well as diagnostic tools for the increasingly busy sleep lab and new beds and mattresses for patients in continuing care.
Madore says the purchases reflect their ongoing focus on adding, updating, and replacing equipment whenever possible to ensure staff can provide cutting-edge treatment.
She and RVH Foundation Executive Director Patti Dillabough are both incredibly grateful to everyone in the community who has jumped on with efforts like Catch the Ace, as the money raised covers their annual equipment budget, an area of the hospital not funded by the Ministry of Health.
As the community waits for the next Catch the Ace draw on Thursday, Dillabough notes that the foundation has plenty of events to look forward to this spring, including April’s Dedicate-a-Daffodil drive supporting cancer patients.
