2:55 PM: The OPP says Highway 17 outside of Renfrew could be closed for hours following a serious Wednesday afternoon crash involving a tractor trailer.
A spokesperson for the Renfrew OPP says traffic was closed along the highway between the intersections with O’Brien Road and Bruce Street at around 1:30 pm after the single car crash left the trailer seriously damaged, and eyewitness reports from the scene confirm that trailer bed was left hanging over the side of the bridge over the Bonnechere River.
While the extent of any injuries sustained from the crash are currently unknown, commuters are being told find alternative routes as the ongoing investigation and clean-up could take into Monday evening.
