At yesterday’s (March 10) Town of Renfrew Economic Development Advisory Committee meeting, the Downtown Renfrew Business Improvement Area (DRBIA) announced some proposed changes for 2026.
One of these changes includes appointing Lisa Vincent of Ella’s Keeping Company as the new chair of the DRBIA.
The committee also welcomes its newest member, Kinsey Maxwell of In A Bind.
According to DRBIA officials, the executive changes will be put in place upon council’s approval.
Maxwell and In A Bind won the 2024 BIA Member of the Year Award at the Renfrew and Area Chamber of Commerce Pinnacle of Business Excellence Awards.
The DRBIA is also bringing back some of its popular programs such as Music in the Square.
The weekly live performance has been changed, with the stage now being set every Friday evening in July and August at Low Square in front of town hall from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m.
Wanda Brydges Kennell, DRBIA Coordinator, said the new venue will fit right in with other downtown events.
The DRBIA is always trying out new ways to promote the downtown; this year that effort is being directed toward trail signage to direct residents towards the downtown core.
The downtown is not just the main drag, the DRBIA effective coverage also spills into Argyle St. S and Plaunt St. S.
To promote businesses on these streets the DRBIA is also working on a new map of the downtown, though it still needs some finishing touches and corrections.
