Environment Canada is warning the Ottawa Valley to brace for some nasty weather starting tonight.
The weather agency has placed all of Renfrew County under an orange warning as a series of low pressure systems passing through the area starting on Tuesday night is expected to lead to significant freezing rain in the region.
Communities can expect freezing rain to continue through the overnight hours and through most of Wednesday. Precipitation may become heavy at times. In this case, the rain may not freeze over immediately, leading to localized flooding in low lying areas.
Roads and walkways are likely to become icy and slippery, affecting commuters tomorrow morning.
Environment Canada is also warning that the freezing rain could lead to property damage due to build-ups of ice, as well as potential power outages.
