Environment Canada has issued a Special Weather Statement for the Ottawa Valley. There is the potential for significant freezing rain this week due to a series of low pressure systems moving into the area. The freezing rain is expected to begin Tuesday night or Wednesday morning, lasting through the day and night on Wednesday. The weather agency says freezing rain may fall heavily at times and the ice build up could range between 5 to 10 millimetres. That would cause hazardous travel conditions, tree damage and possible power outages. A freezing rain warning is expected to be issued once the system moves closer.
