EOJHL Most Valuable Player Ethan Smith left an indelible impression on Game Two of the Packers’ Richardson Division Semi-Final series with the Renfrew Junior Timberwolves, opening the scoring in Wednesday’s match at the myFM Centre, and finishing as the game’s first star with a goal and two assists.
The Timberwolves led 2-1 after the first period, but did not score again after Ian Burnett’s power-play marker at 7:44 of the second frame, with Ben Hiel in the box for slashing.
Arnprior again failed to score on the power-play- while the Timberwolves went two-for-three with the man advantage in a much tamer contest than the series opener.
Goalie Cole King turned aside 31 of Renfrew’s 34 shots to earn second star honours, while the two assists from the stick of Daxton Markwell earned the Timberwolves player third star accolades.
215 fans took in the contest at Renfrew’s myFM Centre.
Game three of the best-of seven set is tomorrow night at the Nick Smith Centre, with the Packers’ 6-3 victory Wednesday giving the Green Shirts a 2-0 series lead.
