The Ottawa Valley should consider bundling up before heading out on Monday morning.
Environment Canada has placed all of Renfrew County under a cold warning to start the week, as communities can expect a period of very cold weather with wind chill values dropping to between -30 and -35 overnight until late Monday morning.
The weather agency recommends people heading outside to cover up, as frostbite can develop within minutes on exposed skin, especially with wind chill. Keep moving to maintain your body heat and seek shelter from the wind.
The risk is greater for young children, older adults, people with chronic illness, those working or exercising outdoors, and those without proper shelter.
Remember: if it’s too cold for you to stay outside, it’s too cold for your pet to stay outside.
