Two people have been arrested following a joint drug bust by provincial police and border patrol agents in Renfrew.
The Renfrew OPP tell myFM that Canada Border Services Agency officers recently discovered a package containing over six kilograms of ketamine after a shipment at the International Mail Processing Centre in the Greater Toronto Area tested positive for the substance.
Both the CBSA and the OPP East Region’s Community Street Crime Unit executed a search warrant at a residence on Maloney Road on Tuesday, February 26th.
Two people were arrested without incident as officers seized the suspected ketamine, as well as approximately six grams of suspected cocaine and a quantity of suspected methamphetamine. They also seized approximately $1,300 in cash, a collapsible baton, and items typically associated with drug trafficking.
35-year-old Amal Nahas and 47-year-old Lindsay Thompson, both from Renfrew, have been charged with the following:
- Possession of Schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking—three counts
- Possession of proceeds of property obtained by crime under $5000
- Unauthorized possession of a weapon
Nahas was also charged with importing a Schedule I substance.
Both have been released from custody ahead of a scheduled court appearance in early April.
