The president of Renfrew Minor Baseball has a message for would-be little leaguers living outside town limits: there’s a spot for you.
Kasia Maves is encouraging families from communities like Douglas, Horton, and Arnprior, as well as parts of Admaston/Bromely and Greater Madawaska, with interest in playing ball this year to consider signing up, noting that they don’t often see many players from those areas despite them being part of the league’s catchment area according to Little League Canada.
The invitation comes as the league opened early bird registration earlier in the month in hopes that the lower fees will entice families to get their forms in as soon as possible so Maves and her team can finalize the logistics on what they’re hoping will be their best year yet.
So far, Renfrew Minor Baseball has confirmed their 2026 schedule will include the return of a pair of fan-favorite tournaments, plus a number of opportunities for players to get ahead of the curve developmentally.
Maves adds that it’s not just players who are needed to make their season a success; umpires and coaches are always in demand, especially as Renfrew Minor Baseball likes to plan well in advance so there’s always someone around to handle the x’s and o’s or call balls and strikes.
Early bird registration ends April 1st, with the season opening as early as the first week of May depending on local weather.
