For the family of an Ottawa Valley teen in desperate need of a kidney donor, the solution couldn’t have come at a better time.
Months after their first call to find a match for 18-year-old Renfrew student Lucas Gillan, his family has announced that he underwent a successful transplant on Thursday.
The surgery is the result of a months-long campaign that attracted hundreds of thousands of views on Facebook and raised over $9,000 for the Kidney Foundation of Canada through their 2025 Kidney Walk.
More updates are expected in the coming days while the family welcomes positive thoughts as Lucas and his donor recover.
