Expect a line-up at Renfrew’s old-school burger joint as a special fundraising campaign returns this weekend.
Odi’s Kingburger will recognize a cause near to their hearts as they honour International Angelman Syndrome Day this Sunday, February 15th, raising funds and awareness for a rare condition that affects 1 in 15,000 children around the world.
That includes Odi’s granddaughter, Ever, as mother Robin Audette-Hisko explains she was first diagnosed 10 years ago at the age of 2.
The diagnosis has not hindered Ever’s ability to spread joy to the world around her, and Robin relishes the chance to share their story and the stories of kids across the globe as more attention and support goes into research and treatment.
Kingburger will donate $2 from every combo meal sold on Saturday to Angelman Syndrome Foundation Canada. Patrons can also make a cash donation at the drive-thru window and take part in free prize draws throughout the day thanks to the wonderful support of friends across the community.
On top of raising funds, Robin says the main goal is to keep the conversation around Angelman syndrome going because an early diagnosis means parents will be spared a lot of heartbreak and uncertainty over their child’s needs.
