School buses have been cancelled in all areas served by the Renfrew County Joint Transportation Consortium.
The RCJTC cancelled due to a special weather statement is in effect, saying periods of heavy snow are expected today.
Schools remain open.
Environment Canada says 7 to 12 centimetres of snow is expected, with reduced visibility during the heaviest snowfall. The snow is expected to begin this morning and continue into the afternoon or evening.
Drivers and pedestrians are being urged to use extra caution as road and sidewalk conditions may deteriorate quickly.
Residents are advised to allow extra time for commuting and errands across the region.
Motorists are also reminded to clear snow from vehicles before leaving and to slow down in poor conditions.
Officials say residents should continue checking forecasts and road reports before heading out later today for updates.
