Commuters heading up Highway 17 just north of Renfrew can expect some major work to be done along the area’s more popular sideroads.
Horton Township has announced that significant work will be taken to rehabilitate Garden of Eden Road from Pinnacle Road to Orin Road over the next two years, starting with brushing and tree removal in the next few weeks.
The work will continue into the summer, as road crews make grade adjustments and replace culverts along the affected portion of road, as well as do additional ditching, road widening, and applying gravel filler during both the 2026 and 2027 construction seasons.
Horton’s Public Works Director, Adam Knapp, says to expect delays and temporary road closures while work is being done, but all efforts will be made to avoid prolonged closures and to keep one lane of traffic open throughout the project.
Knapp is also encouraging residents interested in receiving leftover fill material from ditching operations in the township to contact him at 613-432-6271.
Updates on day-to-day operations will be available through the township as well as Municipal 511 and myFM.
