If you’re a homeowner, there is an increase coming to the county portion of your property tax bill. Renfrew County Council has approved the 2026 budget, including an increase of 6.68% to the tax levy. That will add another $28.71 a year for every $100,000 in assessed value
on your home. Warden Jennifer Murphy says it was one of the most challenging budgets the county has ever faced and it required difficult conversations and thoughtful decision making. Chair of the Corporate Services Committee Peter Emon says this year’s budget was especially challenging as they worked to balance community concerns about affordability while ensuring equal access to essential services. He says at the same time, they needed to plan for services that need to be updated, retooled or newly developed. Property taxes account for 27% of the County’s $248 million in projected revenue this year.
