The Town of Renfrew will be hosting public information centres (PIC) about the town’s existing potable water, stormwater and wastewater system conditions.
The town will be updating their Master Servicing Plan and will be reviewing its wastewater and stormwater collection and potable water distribution systems.
The Master Servicing Plan will be reviewing the prospect of optimizing the existing infrastructure’s performance while also developing a timeline for future expansion requirements for anticipated population growth.
Wastewater and other water systems were a major point of discussion for local representatives at this year’s Rural Ontario Municipal Association (ROMA) Conference in Toronto.
Renfrew-Nipissing-Pembroke MPP, Billy Denault, said there was no lack of discussion surrounding water systems at ROMA.
Despite the cost of running these systems, Denault said they are the most important aspect of infrastructure development.
The town has published PICs regarding the plan, which includes population growth models and plan progress.
The study predicts Renfrew’s population exceeding 11,000 by the year 2030, and 19,000 by 2044.
The final PIC will be on Feb. 9, when a virtual public meeting will be put on by the town for the public to join.
