Ontario Provincial Police say two people are facing multiple drug-related charges after a traffic stop in Pembroke.
OPP East Region’s Community Street Crime Unit stopped a vehicle on Alfred Street last Wednesday (Jan. 21) as part of an ongoing drug trafficking investigation. Police say the driver was identified as being prohibited from driving and was arrested at the scene.
A subsequent search of the vehicle led to the seizure of more than 184 grams of suspected cocaine, nearly 22 grams of suspected crack cocaine, more than 61 grams of suspected fentanyl, close to 180 grams of suspected crystal methamphetamine and nearly 81 grams of suspected MDMA. Officers also seized quantities of hydromorphone pills and morphine.
The passenger was also arrested following the seizure.
Kyle Peplinskie, 39, of Ottawa, has been charged with six counts of possession of a Schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking, possession of a Schedule III substance for the purpose of trafficking, possession of property obtained by crime under $5,000, operation while impaired, refusing to provide a breath sample and driving while under suspension.
Caitlyn Dennis, 31, of Chapeau, Que., has been charged with six counts of possession of a Schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking, possession of a Schedule III substance for the purpose of trafficking and failing to comply with a probation order.
Both accused were held in custody and were scheduled to appear for bail hearings before the Ontario Court of Justice in Pembroke on Thursday.
