Highway 417 in Arnprior
Last week, municipal and county representatives attended this year’s Rural Ontario Municipal Association Conference in Toronto, a big topic of discussion for multiple townships was about the Hwy. 417 expansion, with parliamentary assistant to the minister of transportation, Ric Bresee.
Town of Renfrew Reeve, Peter Emon, got confirmation on when construction would start again on Hwy. 417.
Emon said with the confirmation also comes a commitment to hold local meetings in the near future about details of the project.
The Townships of Horton and McNab/Braeside were also involved in delegations regarding the highway expansion.
Emon said having the other townships at the meetings was a great show of local cooperation on a project that would have a huge local impact.
Emon himself is also quite relieved to finally move forward a step with the expansion, as he has been advocating for this project for over a decade.
The County of Renfrew said continuing the extension of the highway would be a “significant step forward for the residents, businesses, and the overall economic growth of the County of Renfrew.”
