This weekend is a showcase of what the facilities at Renfrew’s myFM Centre are capable of.
For the first time ever two dozen Jr. B hockey teams have flocked to the small town on the Bonnechere to participate in a weekend-long tournament.
Jordan MacMillan, Renfrew Minor Hockey Association’s (RMHA) tournament director, said having more ice means Renfrew gets more hockey.
The teams also bring their families from all over the province who flood the stands and fill the air with cheers for the more than 300 kids playing this weekend.
MacMillan said it’s amazing to be seeing hockey families bring this much buzz into the Valley.
He said seeing all the cheers and hype reminds him of the wonder and excitement he experienced playing in hockey tournaments as a kid.
