The Robbie Dean Centre is often considered the backbone of mental health organizations not only in Pembroke, but right across the Valley. Monique Yashinskie is the Founder and Director of Community Engagement for the centre, and there are very few people in the region who have not at least heard of her.
The doors opened to the centre on June 5, 2013, and since then it has become one of the most important organizations in the region when it comes to addressing mental health issues. Growth within the organization has been a key focus in recent years and heading into 2026.
Monique notes that the fact so many staff members go on to create their own practices is a testament to the centre being the perfect environment for others to move ahead and carry the torch forward.
Fundraising for The Robbie Dean Centre is perhaps the most important aspect of what contributes to keeping its doors open, and this past year has seen some of the most successful drives ever for the venerable organization.
The new year brings new possibilities for continued growth, as unfortunately the need for such services continues to rise as life becomes more and more challenging. Monique and her staff are up to the task.
The catchword of the year for Monique was “transition,” a word that seems to apply year after year, and 2026 will be no different, she says.
Not surprisingly, Monique credits the community for the success that The Robbie Dean Centre continues to enjoy, and she knows 2026 is only going to be more impressive.
