The first quarter of the 21st century is nearly all wrapped up and a lot has changed since the dot-com era of yesteryear, but what remains through human innovation and struggles is community compassion.
Renfrew Victoria Hospital (RVH) executive director, Patti Dillabough, said Pat McGregor’s 30 for 30 Duathlon in support of RVH’s dialysis unit is probably the highlight of the year.
McGregor’s 30 for 30 included a trek of 30 kilometres on foot and by bike to celebrate the 30 year mark of the hospital’s dialysis unit with a fundraising goal of $30,000.
Dillabough said McGregor crushed her goal, raising a total of $31,861.
RVH fundraising helps to budget for equipment that saves lives and improves the livelihood of patients across the Valley.
The hospital received $509,000 in funding which was used on equipment across the hospital including bone density, ultrasound and surgical equipment.
There was also around $25,000 raised from third party events not organized by the hospital such as the Legion’s Vintage Sale and Gourley’s Backyard BBQ.
Dillabough said the hospital will be receiving at least another $500,000 for equipment funding in 2026 which would cover bed replacement in RVH’s dialysis unit, to start.
