Renfrew’s Junior B Timberwolves are on break for the holidays, but their general manager is staying focused on keeping pace with a runaway rival in the Richardson Division.
First-year general manager Mark Robillard has been busy in the lead-up to the new year, working alongside his Junior A counterparts to recall players spending time outside the EOJHL in order to bolster a roster he believes could hang with the top teams in the league, including the first-place Arnprior Packers, as the playoffs inch closer.
Robillard will be banking on a hot streak in the second half of the season in order to catch up with the Packers and the second-place Richmond Royals, as the Timberwolves attempt to replicate a wildly successful 2024-25 season.
While they’re not quite at that level in the standings, he believes this year’s team is ready to buy in on a philosophy that will take them deeper into the playoffs.
The Timberwolves expect to be buyers as the trade deadline quickly approaches after the break, with Robillard making it clear that he’s willing to make a deal for more talent if the price is right.
Renfrew’s next game is at the myFM Centre on Sunday, January 4th, when they host the Carleton Place Canadians at 7:00 pm.
