Communities across the Ottawa Valley are in line for more funding that will keep local firefighters safe.
Billy Denault, Member of Provincial Parliament for Renfrew-Nipissing-Pembroke, has announced a new $608,853.56 investment into municipal fire departments through the Fire Protection Grant, expanding cancer prevention initiatives and improve emergency response incident involving lithium-ion batteries.
The funding will support the procurement of equipment, supplies and personal protective equipment that enhance municipal cancer prevention initiatives, as well as equipment and supplies for lithium-ion battery incident response, and minor infrastructure upgrades and modernization, including enhanced broadband and internet connectivity
“Our firefighters are on the frontlines of emergency services,” says Denault. “They are protectors, community builders, and in many parts of our riding, dedicated volunteers. Investing in them is part of our plan to keep both our communities and the people who serve them safe.”
