One young man is dead and another is facing charges after a single vehicle collision last night (Monday, December 15) near Pakenham. Lanark County OPP say shortly before midnight, a car crashed on the 8th Concession of South Pakenham, near Cedar Hill Sideroad. A passenger was found trapped in the car, while the driver and another passenger were able to get out. Members of the Mississippi Mills Fire Department were able to free the trapped individual. However, despite life saving measures by Lanark County Paramedics, the 18-year-old from Mississippi Mills Township was pronounced dead a short time later. His name has not been released. A 17-year-old male has now been charged with impaired driving causing death, impaired driving causing bodily harm and operation while impaired (alcohol concentration 80 plus). He has been released from custody with conditions and is scheduled to appear in court next month.
