As people in our community find comfort in gathering with their families over the holidays, what about those who can’t?
96.1 myFM is joining its sister stations across Ontario for Project Poinsettia, delivering well over a hundred festive poinsettias to various local nursing homes, assisted living facilities, hospitals, and senior centers, like Renfrew’s Grove Park Lodge, whose programming team member Amanda McHale is excited to share a little extra holiday cheer with the seniors in her care.
Station staff have already begun making this year’s deliveries across in-and-around Renfrew, Cobden, and the MRC Pontiac area, meeting with seniors who McHale explains might not have as many connections to rely on over the holidays.
She adds that the gesture is always appreciated by residents at the lodge, especially as the weather makes it hard for them to meet with friends and family still in their circle.
Project Poinsettia is not possible without the many sponsors who make the deliveries possible each year, including Giant Tiger Shawville for supplying the flowers.
