Ottawa Valley residents should expect significant snowfall and an average temperature of around –9 degrees Celsius during the holidays, according to the Old Farmers’ Almanac.
The almanac, which has issued long-term weather forecasts for the United States and Canada since 1792, claims that the valley will see roughly 80 millimetres of snowfall during the month of December.
The first seven days of the month are expected to be snowy and cold, according to the almanac, before the region warms up slightly from December 8th to 16th.
During that timeframe, residents can reportedly expect flurries at the beginning followed by sunny skies, with “frigid” temperatures.
Following that, the almanac claims the Ottawa Valley will experience a three-day period of “bitter cold” as snow begins falling again from December 17th to 20th, after which the region will experience snow showers and temperatures in line with the start of the month from December 21st to 26th.
The last five days of 2025 will reportedly be “snowy” and “very cold.”
Overall, the Old Farmers’ Almanac expects the 2025-26 winter season to be warmer than normal, with less snowfall than usual and more precipitation overall.
